💰🪦 There it is. No euphemisms. No carefully worded talking points. Just a blunt, smirking declaration from EJ Antoni, Donald Trump’s pick for Labor Statistics Commissioner. “Eventually, you need to sunset the program.” The program, of course, is Social Security—the backbone of retirement for over 70 million Americans. Retirees, widows, disabled workers, orphaned children. The promise written into law in 1935 and reinforced with every paycheck you’ve ever earned. The promise they are now openly plotting to break.
This is not fiscal prudence. It is ideological obsession. For decades, the right has waged a quiet war on Social Security, dressing it up as concern for “future solvency” while chipping away at its credibility. They’ve called it “bankrupt” when it is not. They’ve railed against “entitlements” as if your own paycheck deductions are charity. They’ve told you to expect cuts because “math” demands it. Now, with Trump back in power, they are done pretending. This is the endgame. Strip it for parts. Push the public into private accounts. Call it “freedom.”
EJ Antoni didn’t just materialize in this role. He is a Heritage Foundation loyalist. And the Heritage Foundation is the same think tank driving Project 2025, the hard-right blueprint for dismantling the American government as we know it. That plan explicitly calls for privatizing or gutting every public program that stands between you and destitution. Public schools. Medicare. Medicaid. The Postal Service. Even weather data. And now, Social Security—the crown jewel of the New Deal—is in their sights.
Do not mistake “sunsetting” for reform. It is corporate looting. Wall Street salivates at the thought of funneling trillions in guaranteed retirement contributions into hedge funds and high-fee investment vehicles. This is the same industry that tanked the global economy in 2008 while collecting bonuses for failure. They are not interested in your security. They are interested in your money.
And this isn’t their first attempt. George W. Bush tried to privatize Social Security in 2005. His plan would have diverted part of your payroll tax into private investment accounts. The public backlash was so fierce that the idea collapsed before it reached a vote. Why? Because Americans understood then—across party lines—that Wall Street is not a retirement plan, it’s a casino. The same truth holds today.
Polling has been consistent for decades: most Americans, including majorities of Republicans, oppose cutting Social Security benefits or raising the retirement age. Even in polarized times, it is one of the few programs that unites people across red and blue states. And yet here we are, watching a political class ignore public will in favor of billionaire donors who will never depend on it.
Trump’s fingerprints are all over this betrayal. When it was politically convenient, he vowed never to touch Social Security. But Trump’s word is worth less than a counterfeit chip at one of his failed casinos. The minute his donors—billionaires, corporate lobbyists, and financial sector predators—signaled they wanted it, the promise was gone. Like every other “populist” stance he’s taken, it was never more than bait for the desperate.
And here is the truth they will never put in a press release. The people who want Social Security dismantled will never need it. They are insulated by generational wealth, real estate portfolios, and offshore accounts. They will not care when you are deciding between paying for medication and keeping the heat on in winter. They will not care when the next recession wipes out the retirement savings you were told to gamble on the market.
If they succeed, the damage will not stop with Social Security. Medicare will be next. Then Medicaid. Then unemployment insurance. Piece by piece, every safety net program that keeps people afloat in hard times will be shredded and sold off. In its place will be a corporate safety net—designed to catch your last dollar before you hit the pavement.
This is not a policy debate. It is a coordinated heist. The rhetoric about “personal responsibility” and “reducing the debt” is a smokescreen for class warfare. They want the government to stop guaranteeing anything for ordinary people so that private industry can sell it to you instead. And they are telling you the plan outright.
The only question left is whether Americans will connect the dots before the trapdoor opens under their feet. Because once Social Security is gone, it is gone. And rebuilding it in today’s political climate will be about as likely as building a time machine to 1935.
🗽🕊️ I’m building this on borrowed time, between parenting, the corporate grind, and scraping by. Every word I write is an act of resistance, but I cannot keep it going alone. If you believe in independent voices that refuse to bow, I need you in this fight. Subscribe, chip in, share, whatever you can. I am deeply grateful to those who have already stepped up. You are the reason this still exists. But to turn this into something bigger, to dig deeper, publish more often, and reach more people before it is too late, I need your help now. I do not want to fade into another job just to survive. I want to keep fighting. With you. For all of us.

We see you, and the American quest for money at the cost of everything else. We saw you trash the Middle East in pursuit of cheap oil. We saw you get your asses kicked by soldiers who had no food, while the US had refrigerated warehouses. The American appetite lacks the maturity of other nations who know that the path America is on, is the end of humanity. The end of altruism, truth decency and respect. Brent you are a microbe in the maelstrom of pure evil, I salute you but your words mean nothing unless there is REAL action. National strikes, days of action, days of inaction. Never mind the intellectualisation, wake people up. Go to every church and tell those disgusting degenerate creeps that they will certainly go to hell for worshipping Trump the antichrist. does America have a moral majority? If not, then please terminate any relations you have with the rest of the world because you are a cancer, virus a toxic breed of evil.
